Boost! Lunch & Learn
10/16/2013 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
We hope you will join us for our next bi-monthly Boost! lunch and learn presentation, Wednesday, October 16th from 12 – 1 pm in the Wake Forest Biotech Place auditorium.
This month we welcome Margaret Savoca, Department of Epidemiology and Prevention at Wake Forest School of Medicine as she presents “The Making of Foodways & Roadways.”
Foodways & Roadways is a film and photography exhibit that focuses on the African American community in Winston-Salem and tells the story of how the food environment in downtown has changed over decades. This joint project between Wake Forest Translational Sciences Institute and Wake Forest University Documentary Film Program combines the voices of those who have resided in Winston-Salem for decades, the photography of youth and archival and present day images. Margaret will show the film and describe how the exhibit was created.
Register today to learn about the less well known neighborhoods surround the RJR factories and community challenges surrounding access to healthy foods today.
This event is free and open to the public. A complimentary lunch will be provided.
