Nanomedia – Lunch & Learn
08/21/2013 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm
Next-Generation Sequencing: Applications and Approaches
We’ve all heard about the $1000 genome. Yet there are many applications of NGS to both basic and applied research that transcend traditional genomics. The purpose of this lunch forum is to present a few examples of these applications and allow you to ask questions relevant to your own research interests.
When: 12:00 – 1:00pm Wednesday, August 21 followed by discussion and networking from 1:00 to 1:30pm
Where: Biotech Place (575 N. Patterson Ave, Winston-Salem, NC 27101): 1st floor auditorium.
Who: Anyone interested in learning about the use of Next-Generation Sequencing for research, clinical and commercial applications
Why: NanoMedica recently moved to Biotech Place to pursue collaborative research opportunities with investigators interested in molecular discovery, sequencing and characterization. We’ve been fortunate to receive the support of Life Technologies and Wake Forest Health Sciences’ Department of Microbiology & Immunology in helping us set up shop. We’d like to say “thank you” by hosting this Lunch & Learn seminar.
12:00 – 12:20 Ion Torrent Sequencing: A few examples NanoMedica
12:20 – 12:40 Personal Genome Machine (PGM) and SOLiD Capabilities Life Technologies
12:40 – 1:00 Questions & Discussion
1:00 – 1:30 Networking
3:00 – 4:00 For those interested in learning about sequencing capabilities available at the Wake Forest School of Medicine, Greg Hawkins will host an afternoon session at the Center for Genomics and Personalized Medicine Research, which is located on the G floor of the Nutrition and Research Center (NRC) at Wake Forest School of Medicine (Medical Center Blvd, Winston-Salem, NC 27157).
Registration is not required. However, as a courtesy to others in making sure we have enough food and drink for all, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com and let us know that you plan to attend.
