AvidXChange closed on a monster round of $547.2 Million in 2017, putting them in first place in North Carolina on CB Insights map of the United States of Tech Startups. This is a great chance to learn from the fastest growing startup in the state from their Chief Marketing Officer, Red Maxwell, who has deep ties to Winston-Salem and Wake Forest University.
Red Maxwell is an experienced marketing executive with over 25 years experience in brand building. After serving on the Board of Directors of AvidXchange, he moved to his current operational role as Chief Marketing Officer of the Charlotte financial technology company.
Red has developed major brand introductions for Polo, Revlon, Planters/Lifesavers, Danone Foods, Foster’s Brewing Company, Wrangler and LEE jeans. As President and Founder of Onramp Branding, he has pioneered the field of Talent Branding and consulted with Clear Channel, McGraw-Hill Education and Tiffany & Co.
Working with Yoyodyne (acquired by Yahoo!), Red helped to launch some of the first internet direct marketing programs in history. He has launched online sites and promotions for Hanes, Duke Energy, Sara Lee, Champion Athleticwear, Accenture and Netscape.
Prior to his agency career, Red started the advertising design department at Polo Ralph Lauren in New York.
Red has served as the Chief Marketing Officer for the SilkRoad Equity family of companies, which include InterAct Public Safety Systems, SilkRoad technology, SolidSpace, TrueLook and MissionMode.
Red Maxwell collaborates closely with Seth Godin and has helped him launch and promote his best selling books and several online ventures including Squidoo.com which was sold to Hubpages in 2014.
Red has served on numerous boards for major non-profits such as the Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art, the Mental Health Association and JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation). He is a founder of TypeOneNation.org, the leading T1 Diabetes online community and currently holds the role of Chancellor for JDRF.
Red was a contributing author to The Wall Street Journal Business Bestseller, The Big Moo. He engages in public speaking events (TED Conference, ConvergeSouth). Red teaches marketing and social media strategy at the Wake Forest University School of Business.
