Virtual: Understanding and Using Financial Statements: Minority Business Financial Literacy Workshop Series (4 Weeks)
Sponsored by ACCESS Center for Equity + Success and The North Carolina Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC) at Winston-Salem State University. This course will assist minority-owned businesses with better managing their business and securing financing. Firms will learn how to use financial statements and how to secure financing. Guest speakers who are experts in accounting and book-keeping share will their knowledge with participants.

Week 1: Introduction to Financial Statements
Learn about the three financial statements (Profit & Loss Statement, Cash Flow Statement, Balance Sheet). Also, learn what lenders/financial firms are looking for.
Week 2: Deeper Dive into Financial Statements
Take a deeper look at the financial statements and learn how they are all related to each other. This will take the fear out of financials.
Week 3: Understanding Key Performance Metrics
Learn how to better understand the performance/financial health of your business and where changes need to be made.
Week 4: Ask an Accountant/Book Keeper
Learn about best practices for accounting and book-keeping.
