Tech titans: Robot runs spark interest in engineeringWith nothing but a box of LEGO blocks, the skeleton of a robot and three and a half hours on the clock, local minds were put to the test.

Nine teams of Forsyth County employees had to build and program a LEGO MINDSTORMS robot that could maneuver an obstacle course and complete various tasks as part of Friday’s Robot Fun Run Community Challenge.

The goal of the event was to bring community awareness to the middle school robot runs held each fall and to get kids excited about STEM – science, technology, engineering, and math — said Steve Susalka, chair of the Winston-Salem Chamber of Commerce Tech Council.
