Virtual: The Willingham Story Slam @ MUSE Winston-Salem: “Holler Days”

December 3, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

The Willingham Story Slam @ MUSE Winston-Salem is a participatory storytelling event. For this month’s Story Slam, the prompt is “Holler Days.” Holiday heaven or holiday hell?
Tell us your best stories related to celebrations and gatherings with family and friends–whether they were successful, or not so much! Most everyone can relate to Thanksgiving dinner gone wrong, or maybe a Christmas celebration turned disaster. Perhaps the turkey caught fire in the oven, or maybe Uncle Jim started talking about politics again and cousin Sue had a lot to say about your parenting choices…whatever the case may be, we think there’s plenty to work with here! Stories must be true to the teller’s best recollection and must be no longer than five minutes. Interpret the prompt as you see fit. Prep your best Holler Days memory and come ready to entertain! Those interested in telling stories can register here on Eventbrite by selecting the storyteller option. Those who would just like to watch or listen may register by selecting the audience member ticket. Both options are free, and donations are welcome.
The event will be emceed by Larry Barron, aka LB the Poet, award-winning poet, host, author, and educator. We’ll select eight to ten individuals at random during the program to tell their stories. Register ahead of time for your free ticket and we’ll send you the link on the day of the program. This event is a partnership between the Willingham Theater in the Yadkin Cultural Arts Center and MUSE Winston-Salem.
