Two not-for-profit health-care systems have joined in taking a formal step toward “creating a next-generation academic health-care system.” Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center and Atrium Health signed a memorandum of understanding, an agreement they called “one more step in a series of milestones.” They anticipate the proposed strategic combination will be completed by March 31. Regulatory agencies must approve the transaction.
